The rain outside didn't dampen their spirits as we were called to prayer with "Siyahmbe". A wide range of performances contributed to a service full of atmosphere and included offerings from the band, recorder consort and handchime choir. The Junior Choir joined us this year, singing "Infant Holy" and the newly formed Chamber Choir gave the first performance of "Eternal Peace" written especially for the occasion by Luke Ottevanger.
Traditional bible readings told the Christmas story, but we also enjoyed a Russian Christmas Prayer. The congregation sang with gusto and well deserved their mulled wine and mince pies served in the beautifully decorated Front Hall, reminiscent of Christmas from times past.
