Tragedy struck when our renowned Cedar tree was hit by lightning in a bad storm. We lost our telephones and internet but hoped that the 400 year old Cedar wasn’t too badly damaged.
Tree surgeons have since assessed the damage and unfortunately decided that the top part of the tree was unsafe and needed to be felled.
Today (29th June) the whole school watched as the top part of the Cedar – which can be seen for miles – was skillfully cut down. The end of an era for our Cedar!
We are hoping to use some of the wood to create woodland benches - and perhaps even a totem pole linked to topics being studied in our Key Stage 1 Department.
