The school has a thriving parents’ association which does a brilliant job of supporting the school, sometimes proposing ambitious social events which bring staff, parents and children together – sometimes raising funds for the school and sometimes coming up with reasons just to have fun.
The RHSA was formed in 1987 and has never faltered since its inception. Membership of the RHSA is open to all parents and guardians of pupils in the school, also current teachers, support staff and former pupils.
The committee consists of ten members; its chairman is appointed at the AGM for a period of one year. The RHSA has a close relationship with the Head of the school (who is an ex-officio member of the committee) and plays a key role in liaising between her and the parent body.
All new parents are invited to join the RHSA; the school also asks for parents from all year groups to act as ‘Form Representatives’. The representatives attend meetings with the Head on a regular basis to feed back questions and comments from other parents.
The Riddlesworth Hall Autumn Gift Fair is well established, having been started by the RHSA in the mid-1990s. Each year we have a mix of new and loyal stallholders. For the last two years the Fair has advertised itself as a Food Fair as well as a Gift Fair, supporting local artisan food and drink producers too.
The Autumn Fair is the RHSA’s biggest fund raising event of the year, raising money for the school and a chosen charity. This year’s charity is Musical Keys which is a Norwich based charity providing a service to people of all ages with disabilities and/or additional needs across Norfolk and the surrounding region.
There will be just over 40 stalls at the Autumn Fair this year. See below for a preview of the stalls coming. Most of the gift and food producer stalls will be in the main rooms of the Hall building. Distillers and brewers stalls will be in the dining room, along side the eating area. Hot food will be provided by the Rustic Catering Co. and the RHSA café will be serving homemade cakes and scones with tea, coffee or wine.
Disabled access is limited to the dining room and the outside stalls. Please ask at the front steps to be taken to the dining room via the back door.
